History to Edgmond Bowling Club
The club was formed in 1974 following the green being laid after interest shown by local residents in 1972 by the then Wrekin District Council.
Interest in the sport started to increase and in 1976 a team was entered in the Mid Shropshire Bowling League. As time progressed and skills improved more teams were entered in other leagues [Shrewsbury Ladies league, Market Drayton league, South Staffs league, Whitchurch league.
The club now boasts six teams in various leagues bowling on Monday / Tuesday / Thursday / Friday nights and Wednesday afternoons [Senior citizens] with competitions on Sundays. League matches commence early April and finish early October.
It is a family club which endeavours to promote the game of Crown Green Bowls. It is a sport that can appeal to both young and old alike.
The clubhouse was built in 1989 by club members and friends and has a lounge, kitchen, toilets and a well stocked bar.
The green is situated off the playing field car park oppposite the village hall.
Anyone interested in taking up the game or already a bowler but wish to join the club, we would be delighted for you to join us.
